A crowd of staff gathered on Wednesday, March 25, as the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Magnet Recognition Program® announced that our medical center achieved Magnet® with Distinction—an elite recognition that places Salinas Valley Health Medical Center among the highest-performing hospitals in the nation.
Magnet with Distinction is awarded to a select group of organizations that exceed the already rigorous standards of Magnet recognition – the gold standard for nursing excellence. While approximately 10% of U.S. hospitals have achieved Magnet designation, as of February 2026, only 1% have earned the Magnet with Distinction.
